Career résumé: For Brian Anderson, becoming the director of a professional football club is a dream realised. That’s because at the age of 18 he set off from London for Liverpool, intent on becoming a professional player, or getting into the music industry. Neither unfortunately transpired, but he went to work at Marks & Spencer in Blackpool and within a year was a departmental manager with senior management prospects looming. He was then approached by Pentland Industries plc. He made the move – and 24 years later is the Chief Executive of the group’s footwear operation. It means he has overall responsibility for many of Pentland’s brands – and also oversees the company’s footwear and clothing links with Marks & Spencer. In addition, Brian runs various Pentland-held licenses such as Barbie, Action Man and Winnie-the-Pooh - as well as all unbranded footwear throughout Europe. He also jointly owns a north London based development company. All this and he still aspires to being a pop singer or professional footballer! He bought his first season ticket for Watford 15 years ago. Brian and his wife Irit have
three daughters – Lucy, Rachel and Nicole.
